Why I Almost Tossed the West&Month Firming Cream in the Trash
Listen, I am not easily impressed. When this West&Month Body Firming Cream arrived, I was already having a bad Tuesday. The box looked like it had been through a war zone, and when I finally wrenched the cap off, the smell hit me like a ton of bricks. It wasn’t necessarily “stinky,” but it had this weird, medicinal, clinical scent that made me wonder if I was applying chemical sludge to my limbs. I was THIS close to returning it. Seriously, I had the return label printed and taped to the counter.
For the first four days, I was convinced I had wasted my money. The instructions said to apply it to clean skin, so I did. I massaged it in, waited for it to dry, and… nothing. My skin felt exactly the same. No “lift,” no magical glow, just a weird lingering scent that stuck to my sweater. I was stress-eating chips when I noticed that the area I was applying it to didn’t even look hydrated, let alone firm. I honestly don’t know why it takes so long for the skin to react to certain ingredients, but at that point, I felt like I was just smearing expensive nothingness onto my body.
But. I’m stubborn. My best friend is always telling me I give up on things too early, and since I’d already spent the cash, I decided to give it one more week. Instead of just slapping it on like body lotion, I started using it right after a hot shower when my pores were open and my skin was damp. I also started being way more aggressive with the massage part. I spent five full minutes rubbing it into my thighs and arms until my hands were actually tired. That was the shift. The texture, which I previously thought was just greasy, suddenly started acting like a real emulsion. It stopped sitting on top of my skin and actually sank in.
Now, I hate to admit it, but I’m seeing results. My skin feels significantly softer. It isn’t a miracle cure that turns you into a supermodel overnight, but the dry, crepey look I usually get around my elbows and knees has vanished. The firming claim? It’s subtle, but it’s there. My skin looks tighter, especially after a workout. I’m annoyed that it took me nearly a week to figure out how to make this stuff work, but the results are undeniable at this point. It’s annoying because now I have to keep buying it.
I still think the scent is a bit weird, and the packaging is nothing to write home about, but the hydration level is top-tier. My legs feel like silk, which is a nice change from the sandpaper-dry texture I usually deal with in the winter. It’s not that it’s a magical potion, but it does exactly what it says on the tube if you actually put in the effort to use it right. I’m not saying it’s the best thing in the world, but it’s definitely earned its spot on my vanity.
Would I repurchase? Honestly, yes. But with caveats. You have to be patient. If you’re looking for instant gratification, skip it. If you’re looking for long-term improvement and you’re willing to actually spend time massaging the product in, go for it. Just don’t expect the packaging to blow your mind or the scent to be a floral bouquet. It’s a functional product that does the job, provided you aren’t as lazy as I was in the beginning.
If you want to try it yourself, here’s where I got mine.
